Redeemed
"I'm redeemed, You set me free!"
The music washes over my soul. Memories of yesterday haunt my heart and I almost stagger under the weight. I stop and reflect and humbly sit in silence.
I am redeemed.
I...a sinner, a rebel...am Redeemed.
I AM redeemeed. Not going to be redeemed, not was redeemed, I AM redeemed. Present tense.
Every second.
Every minute.
Every hour.
Every day.
I stand redeemed.
I am REDEEMED. Just writing the word brings tears to my eyes.
I have been bought with a price.
I have had my evil doings wipe clean.
I have been presented before God pure.
I have been made a new creation.
I have been given right standing with God.
Only because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
Only because from the beginning of creation, I was sought after.
Only because His love and justice is far greater than ours will ever be.
Only because after I was faced with all these truths, I relented, surrendered, fell on my face.
I could not...only HE could.
So the words of the song wash over me yet again...
"Jesus, I'm not who I used to be, 'cause I'm redeemed."
"Redeemed" by Big Daddy Weave
Seems like all I could see was the struggle
Haunted by ghosts that lived in my past
Bound up in shackles of all my failures
Wondering how long is this gonna last
Then You look at this prisoner and say to me "son
Stop fighting a fight it's already been won"
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I'm not who I used to be
I am redeemed, I'm redeemed
All my life I have been called unworthy
Named by the voice of my shame and regret
But when I hear You whisper, "Child lift up your head"
I remember, oh God, You're not done with me yet
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I'm not who I used to be
Because I don't have to be the old man inside of me
'Cause his day is long dead and gone
Because I've got a new name, a new life, I'm not the same
And a hope that will carry me home
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, 'cause I'm not who I used to be
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe every stain, yeah, I'm not who I used to be
Oh, God, I'm not who I used to be
Jesus, I'm not who I used to be
'Cause I am redeemed
Thank God, redeemed
Haunted by ghosts that lived in my past
Bound up in shackles of all my failures
Wondering how long is this gonna last
Then You look at this prisoner and say to me "son
Stop fighting a fight it's already been won"
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I'm not who I used to be
I am redeemed, I'm redeemed
All my life I have been called unworthy
Named by the voice of my shame and regret
But when I hear You whisper, "Child lift up your head"
I remember, oh God, You're not done with me yet
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I'm not who I used to be
Because I don't have to be the old man inside of me
'Cause his day is long dead and gone
Because I've got a new name, a new life, I'm not the same
And a hope that will carry me home
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, 'cause I'm not who I used to be
I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe every stain, yeah, I'm not who I used to be
Oh, God, I'm not who I used to be
Jesus, I'm not who I used to be
'Cause I am redeemed
Thank God, redeemed
